Skirting It Up

skirtSkirts have been around for hundreds of years and have taken countless forms through the ages.  Similar to the jeans, it is a staple in women’s fashion and almost every girl has at least one skirt in her closet.  In the olden times, wearing a skirt is a symbol of femininity and poise.  Today, women’s fashion has revolutionized the skirt and turned it to a symbol of girl power and personality.  There are many different kinds of skirts and choosing what to wear would require you to know your body type as well as your personality.

1. The Asymmetrical Skirt has an uneven hemline which is longer either on the left or the right side.  This style best hides heavy thighs.  The fit should not be too tight or too loose.

2. The Column Skirt works best for petite women to create an illusion of longer legs.  Full figured women can also use this one as it conceals bulky parts of the lower body.

3. An A line skirt is small on the waist and hips and has a fuller bottom.  It should be no higher than 3 inches above the knee but should not be below the knee cap either.

4. The tube skirt is perhaps the simplest among all skirt types and the one that works for almost all body types.  It is just a straight cut skirt that can go as long as the ankles.

5. The Pencil skirt is best for women with curvy figures because of its tapered bottom that accentuates the curves.  The length for this skirt is very flexible but it looks better when it is shorter (above the knee cap length)
