Why “Fashion Don’ts” Are Unnecessary

fashion-dontFashion is a way to express your personal opinions and the things that you like. Society has placed a massive importance on the need to completely rule out certain fashion trends. They tell you “don’t wear that”, “never mix this with that”, and “that is an absolute fashion don’t”.

Fashion don’ts are completely unnecessary and are wrecking fashion creativity around the world. Avoiding dressing in styles you prefer to wear is narrowing the fashion world down to something that is hardly noticeable.

However, wearing whatever you feel like wearing broadens that spectrum and opens the way for creative pieces, fun designs, and more interesting accessories. How many times have you been told that you shouldn’t wear platform shoes or shiny pants? It’s hurtful to hear mean things about the clothing trends (or lack of trends) that you love most.

Sometimes the fashion trends that you love the most just happen to appear on the “don’t” list! What do you do when this happens? Well, if you love the fashion than you can continue to wear it but find a way to make it a fashion “do” rather than a fashion “don’t”.

The next time you are you shopping, buy what you want and wear it. You may create the next big thing in the fashion industry without even trying, because that’s how all of the great trends started in the first place.

1. The Asymmetrical Skirt has an uneven hemline which is longer either on the left or the right side.  This style best hides heavy thighs.  The fit should not be too tight or too loose.

2. The Column Skirt works best for petite women to create an illusion of longer legs.  Full figured women can also use this one as it conceals bulky parts of the lower body.

3. An A line skirt is small on the waist and hips and has a fuller bottom.  It should be no higher than 3 inches above the knee but should not be below the knee cap either.

4. The tube skirt is perhaps the simplest among all skirt types and the one that works for almost all body types.  It is just a straight cut skirt that can go as long as the ankles.

5. The Pencil skirt is best for women with curvy figures because of its tapered bottom that accentuates the curves.  The length for this skirt is very flexible but it looks better when it is shorter (above the knee cap length)

Make sure that you choose items that were not the hottest thing last season, since you are into classics, just check out sales on nice, tailored pieces and basics like button down shirts, cardigans, A-line skirts etc. as you can easily spruce these up with fanciful accessories.

Go online shopping. Just like with thrift shopping and scouring sales racks, you never know what great fashion finds are waiting to be discovered online. However don’t get easily tempted into automatically buying the first thing that catches your fancy or else you might not even realize it but you’ve already racked up quite an amount in your credit card. Just bookmark the ones that you like then eventually just choose the one/s that you would actually use.
